Crafty Creations September 9th

Wow where has the time gone too. Mmmm probably with 4 grandchildren arriving here to live.

Child minding tripled now. Been to the beach, shopping for thongs, swim in the pool, lunch eggs and bacon and then strawberries and ice cream and that’s just today!!  I loved every minute of it though. Witnessing their enthusiasm and excitement at new places and anticipation of  adventures yet to come is a real boost to the emotions. A very happy day.

Not to say that creating is not my happy place, as it is. Making cards that are enthusiastically replicated by my Crafty Creations ladies is always a delight as well as a challenge to second guess what they would like this time. There are so many ways to use the marvelous products from Stampin’ Up! often it is hard to choose. Like today. Will I make the bottle tags, or shall we use the new masks with the delightful Fruit Stand stamps or perhaps some punch art with the Foxy Friends.?

So here are the replicated cards for last Friday. The original was spotted on  Pinterest by Irma who also kindly lent us the stamp set, now retired. We sponged the card  in Night of Navy or Dapper Denim then heat embossed the star and the sentiment with White Embossing powder. We did use the Misit to repeatedly stamp the Shepherds to get a solid enough image. Then used the appropriate coloured marker to dot out any remaining white sections.   The card front was finished with a diamante on the star.

Off to sort out this weeks card.  Cheers Naomi

Technique Treats September

Here we are as promised. I think  Vicki and I have  been burning the candle at both ends to get this delightful treats to you today, as promised.

Some of the more senior viewers of this blog may well remember the Torn Paper Technique but for others it will be new.  Whichever set you belong to you will find new ways to enliven your cards or scrap booking pages by following our detailed instructions.

As this month sees the launch of the 2016 Holiday Catalogue we have teamed  the Faux Linen Techniques and Torn Papers  with the A Day at the Beach Stamp Set from the new range. It is the same set I used here.

8 September - TT

For those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, Christmas is all about family, fun times, the beach, keeping out of the sun and digging in the sand. This set is just perfect for expressing a hot Christmas or just a fun time.   Tearing paper and making Linen looking papers just adds to the fun off making your surprising cards.

There is a bonus this month as you get 4 technique sheets this time as we found it hard to confine ourselves to just using the Techniques one way each.

Many thanks to those of you who have benefited from our previous Techniques, make sure you tell your friends that you are on to a good thing!!

Pop back during the month to see more from the Christmas Catalogue, using some of the previous Techniques .  Drop us a line if there is a technique you would like us to showcase as well. We are more than happy for any feed back you give.

Bye for now.

Off to organise next weeks card class.

Sponging Blitz.

Sometimes there’s a part of me that is just not satisfied with my cards.

I have made these for our Crafty Creations on Friday but let me talk you through my personal dissatisfaction with each one.no moon

This was my  first card. I didn’t put in a moon and not happy with the trees overlapping each other at the bottom Right Hand corner. To me they are looking squashed and not shadowy enough.

Good moon CC

 2nd attempt.

Happy with this before I sliced it. Then didn’t like the bulge on the side of the moon. It would have been fine but a gremlin managed to make a blob on the card (not that easy to see here but under the diamentie below the moon and under the sentiment). Wet ones, sneaky glue or a weeing gecko have a lot to answer for!! I wanted to use an elongated sentiment not an oval one and It wouldn’t cover it all.

So to take 3 Lovely as a Tree CC

So not to be put off and still striving for personal satisfaction I had another go. After all the inks were still on the desk. Now this is fine but in the spirit of this Blog I could have made a better moon and more dappled sky.  My Right hand tree seems to have been made slightly too narrow and is disappearing off the card compared to second card.

Must say I am loving the new In colours Dapper Denim  – the sky and the Emerald Envy – front grass. Have you purchased yours yet?

Our first Technique Treats Tutorial uses sponging and this same stamp set.

Lets see what the girls can come up with at  Crafty Creations on Friday.

Be sure to return and check them out.

Bye Naomi

Ahoy There

I can’t say that I am big on completing card challenges but when three things coincided this week I thought I’d give this one a go.

I had just finished the card for Crafty Creations and opened my emails and saw Vicki was starting a new set of challenges, then Bevan, long suffering husband, arrived with my SU order. Why not I thought, the challenge looked straight forward and the supplies I need were on the desk.

I was happy to break out the new stamps Sea Side Shore, after all I live right next to the beach, so perfect for me.  While there isn’t a punch for the set they are very quick and easy to cut by hand – fussy cut. I sponged the background in our new Dapper Denim Ink, stamped and coloured the seaweed in Emerald Envy Ink, then added some sand with Soft Sky from the Timeless Textures. Love this set as it adds just that bit of difference when needed. I popped up the fish and the shell on Stampin’ Dimensionals after stamping the star fish and bubbles, added Ahoy There and Pearls after putting card together.

All the dimensions and instructions are on Vickie”s Blog here.

Good luck.  Naomi C.

Thanks

I can feel the excitement building, one day to go before orders can be placed from the new Stampin’Up Catalog.
I know you have your catalogs and are eager to get creating with some of the exciting products on display. Over at Vickie’s blog she has created some lovely cards with the new colors and stamps. Pop over and see after you have looked at my offering with the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set and two of the 2015/16 colors.

What a great way to help Ronald McDonald House Charities. On the news the other night they showed the  new fantastic building going up next to the children’s hospital in Brisbane  that is in need of more funding so get behind them with this stamp set.

I have chosen to limit myself to two colors, Tip Top Taupe and Cucumber Crush. What about the white you say, well according to my son when he was 6, years ago, in his “I’m right”, voice which he often was, it’s a shade called Whisper White.  The Internet will agree and disagree but I like to remember him when I’m using black or white.

It is a simple layout with the background paper from Irresistibly Yours DSP sponged in the Tip Top Taupe Ink. One scalloped 8cm circle in Cucumber Crush and one 7cm in Whisper White, which were popped up with dimensionals provided the resting place for the tree.

This tree, after stamping from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set  was  punched with the Tree Builder Punch.

Sentiment was from the Simply Wonderful Stamp Set and stamped on Whisper White  Card Stock then cut with the Chalk Talk Framelits with the Big Shot.  The under mount, in Tip Top Taupe was created with the same framelit cut half way, then the framelit reversed, put through the Big Shot again, cut half way to create the other end.

A pretty bow with Organza Ribbon, topped with the little bird from the Tree Builder Punch, attached with sticky dots helped fill the card.

I Stamped the sentiment and the Tree from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp set inside and the card was complete.

Till next time Happy Crafting.

PS: In case you were were wondering, the scallop was die cut using KaiserCraft Scallop Nesting Die
