70th Birthday

A Special Occasion deserves a special card.  My dearest one and only brother turned 70 a while  ago and one of  his loves is fishing. So what better than some fish from the Jar of Love Stamp set in a shaker card to make him happy. I did add some love hearts and micro beads for sand. The greetings and numbers are from Number of years and the paper is the so versatile and lovely Irresistibly Floral Designer Series Specialty Paper  that I coloured with Dapper Denim Ink.

The aspect I was so happy with though is the Swirly Scribble Thinlits dies.that are surrounding the circles. It is hard to come up with original designs when so much is shared on Pinterest so I was chuffed to have, I think a first. Let me know!

Now before it’s not the first over and out and thanks for stopping bye.

Tea Times New Venture

I mentioned that there was some excitement in the air and so there is. I have just been appointed to lead the Crafty Creations Card Group at the Community Center in Caloundra. It has been very ably run by Vicki Wright for the last 8 years and she will be sadly missed, big shoes to fill.

As this has come about a bit faster than I had envisioned, (which is why I missed last Monday’s Blog) I have created a shaker card that symbolises the “shaking up of things” and as the ladies enjoy a cuppa the lovely tea pot from the Cup and Kettle Framelits Die seemed perfect.

I must confess  Nicol Tugurl posted one similar on  Pinterest

The ladies were all very creative with their cards and enjoyed the challenge. They could see that the image needed a background that had some life but not too busy as in the reverse of this DSP. It is lovely but not the best way of showcasing the teapot.

I love the way the spout fills up as you tip the card back and forth. The “tea” is just glitter from the $2.00 shop. Silver, gold and bronze mixed.

If you check back at a later date I will have posted the tutorial. Thank you for stopping bye.
