Thank you

Thank you’s with a thank you to Kathie Durgan. Some things are just so timely, call it Karma, coincidence, meant to be but just as my free papers arrived and I needed some thank you cards for stampers Kathie created a post.

I immediately grabbed the papers and my Envelope Maker and reproduced these cards, with a couple of variations. thankyou

Birthday Boy

Sunburst Birthdaywm
Sunburst Matao Birthday

My grandson recently turned  6  and he is a delight to us all. We had been teasing him about having had so many toys at Christmas he wouldn’t need any more. The second time the subject came up he responded, in a gentle voice

“That’s OK Nanny and Poppy if you can’t get me one I don’t mind BECAUSE it’s my birthday and I get to choose dinner. Fish and Chips!!! “

If only we were all so easily pleased!

It goes without saying  we had a lovely evening by the waters edge eating our fish and chips and a swim for the boys.

Of course he received a present and this card, and the verse  that goes with it.

This time I have made a tutorial to make the blog read quicker, for all us busy people.

Happy Birthday Tutorial

Special Baby

Friends and Flowers
A Little Miracle.

I was asked by a lady near where I live if I could make a card for her niece who has a premmie baby still in hospital. The wee one was born a month ago and while everything is looking good it is still a stressful time for all the family.  Because I loved what Judith Ritter-Österle has done with the Friends and Flowers stamp set this little card sprang to mind.

It’s a compilation of what I had at hand, some retired, some new products, some not Stampin’ Up!.  The lady was delighted and really that’s all that matters.

The Whisper White base  (21cm x 15cm or 8¼ x 57/8)  folded in half. The  Pacific Point CS (10cm x 14cm or 4″ x 51/2 ) was embossed with the Happy Heart Embossing Folder then glued to base.

I stamped the petals and baby onto some Whisper White scraps, punched out with matching Festive Flower Builder Punch and coloured in the baby. They were arranged and attached to the frame from Spellbinders Decorative Die Frame one, with sticky dots.  Pretty but not one of ours. Then glued to base.

I reverted to the Stampin’ Up! My Digital Studio Miracle Baby(retired) for the sentiment from A Word for You. After printing I used the frame from Chalk Talk Framelits    which was created by running it through the big shot half way, flipping the frame, inserting back into the cut section and cutting the other half.

Inside was this sentiment I had…. just right for this little fighter.

Enjoy.

PS Just heard news am a grandmother again, number 9 so another baby card soon.

Birthday Bouquet DSP Papers.
Birthday Boutique DSP

A quick bag make with the Stampin’Up! Birthday Boutique DSP papers  with the Gift Bag Punch Board. Three other pieces were cut with the Banner Framelit Die.  Rang all three layers through big Shot with the smallest eyelet from Chalk Talk at the top. Stamped image in Crumb Cake on Whisper White from Honeycomb Happiness Stamp Set and again on Pink Pirouette Card Stock in Pink Pirouette ink. Cut out the  ice cream and adhered to cone image.  Stamped Greeting from Honey comb Happiness. Peeled the paper off back of tiny ball of Honeycomb Embellishments and placed on ice cream.  Covered peg with  tiny strip DSP then  Tied a bow in Whisper White bakers twine and all done.

Meg was delighted with not only the chocolates but the cute bag they came in.

Off to put in an order.

A Nice Cuppa

A Nice Cuppa from Occasions Catalogue 2016

Welcome back,  {Sneak Peek}

Have been happily playing with my new products and made this card for my friend Meg’s birthday. She is one of those lucky or unlucky people to have a birthday on New Years Day, so can be over looked with all the celebrations happening.

The Beautiful papers and Framelits make for a quick easy card.

My base card is Pink Pirouette cut at 21cm x 15cm and folded in half. I embossed the Whisper White   (14.5cm x 10cm ) with the Spring Flowers Embossing Folder.   (retired)

I adhered a 5cm x 10cm strip DSP from Birthday Bouquet DSP to the Whisper White card stock. Using the same but different patterned DSP I cut out the Tea pot and  the cup with the Cup and Kettle Framelits Die. I then cut the handles from the cup to make a sugar bowl and added gold from the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to the tea pot handle, the spout and the base of the sugar bowl.

I used the Pink Pirouette CS for the spoon and heart also from the Cup and Kettle Framelit Die.

The kettle was adhered to a circle of Pool Party CS and glued to the DSP. I popped the the sugar bowl up with dimensionals and inserted the spoon in place. I touched up the heart for a bit of glisten with the Clear Wink of Stella. Just LOVE these little guys, so easy to use and so pretty.

Finally I stamped the greeting in Memento black from Sunburst Sayings Stamp Set. They just fit perfectly into the tag from the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits Die and it looks like a tea bag top I think.

Inside I used the “There’s always time for Tea stamp” and  “and spending time with you” stamp to complete. Hope she likes it!

Remember 6 more days and these lovely products can be ordered by you too!  DSC00024

Five Fishes

IMG_20151222_091742Hello again,

Hope you have all had a Happy Christmas and a relaxing Boxing Day. We did with two very excited young boys.

Talking of excitement…I am very excited with the new products in the 2016 Occasions Catalogue and the  Sale-A-Bration catalogues so have a sneak peek here. Having purchased the Festive Flower Builder Punch, for the Christmas poinsettias, I was delighted to see a set of stamps using the same punch. Good on SU, they do make an effort to help use the products we purchase in innovative ways.  So needing to make a small boys 5th birthday card I grabbed on to the idea on page 46 of the Handmade from the Heart Occasions Catalogue and created the card above.

The clouds were made using the Tree Builder Punch and coloured slightly with Smoky Slate The waves used the Color Me Irresistible Specialty Designer Series Paper which was sponged with Marina Mist, Sky Blue and Pool Party to give a varied water effect. I then punched the top edge with the 1″ circle punch.

My Fishes were stamped in Tangelo Twist from the Friends and Flowers Set (page 46 Occasions 2016 Catalogue on sale January 5th) and punched with the Festive Flower Builder Punch, in the medium size. The tails were from the joined leaves and just angled slightly before attaching with sticky dots.  The hats used the top of the  Tree punch and the bottoms rounded with the 1” circle punch from some scraps of DSP HIgh Tide (retired) (Placed from inside out). The little pom pom was made from the tiny flower in the Flower Fair Framelits Die set.

Happy birthday I stamped in Memento black, sponged the edges in  Marina Mist and cut out a star fish from the High Tide DSP.  This DSP was also used on the little pocket inside. It was scalloped with the Adorning Accents edgelit (retired) and mounted on Whisper White Card Stock that had also been scalloped, creating the surf.   I just happened to have a rub on Happy Birthday in my odd stash pile so added that.

pocket

Hope you like them as much as I do. They were quick and easy to create and make for a Happy card for a Five Year old who does happen to have a fish tank in his bedroom!! Pop over to verses for the inside poem.

FIRST BIRTHDAY

Just maybe as you look at this card you may think its  not such a ‘cute baby card’ but this young lady is well and truly off and running!! Baby gone!! Besides I think it’s more what Mum and Dad might like really and in this case Nan and Pop as well. Inside has cuteness!

Isabella watermarked

Or maybe it was me. I wanted to play with the Chalkboard paper and ColorBox© Chalk Rose Coral  Ink I received recently, as well as the Big Day Stamp set which is one of the free sets in the Sale-a-bration Catalogue. I chose the lovely tulips from the Painted Blooms DSP as my background. One of my favorite flowers as it was my Granddads delight to grow them every year in Tasmania.

I first inked up the largest stamp with Brilliance Moonlight White and hand  colored over that on the “Celebrate” in Coastal Cabana  with the Stampin’Write pen. Stamped on to Chalkboard paper and heat set. A new addition to Stampin’up! Using my  Stamp-a-ma-jig I lined up the cake after inking with the Rose chalk. Heat dried that then added the candle, again I inked with the Brilliance then some Daffodil Delight that gave a subtle yellow. Heat dried again.  I think using these inks have given the desired  chalky effect. I quickly  cut out the image, rounded the corners and mounted it onto some Blushing Bride.

The rest of the sentiment was stamped with the coral chalk and punched out with the oval punch before backing with Blushing Bride card stock.   I mounted both pieces with some dimensionals onto the DSP that had been glued to a Blushing Bride  Note Card , added a Bakers Twine bow and card complete. OH! Just a pearl on the end of the Ice cream ! Who doesn’t love Ice cream.

Bye till next time.

Thanks for stopping bye.

TRIPLE CHALLENGE

What is a triple challenge I hear you think?

Challenge 1. Well for me today’s blog is the first one.  I have been invited by Miss Vicky to be part of the creative blog hop where following links you can see, learn, admire and recreate so much about the craft you love. Links and answers to questions all participants are asked are at the bottom of this blog. Thanks Vicky for taking me by surprise and showing faith in my creations.

Challenge 2. I am part of a small group of people at Caloundra Community Center called Crafty Creations and Vicky has organised a monthly card challenge. 1--January-2015You can see them here on Vicky’s face book page Stamps,Paper and Stuff.  Any one is welcome to join in. This is our first one. This is my creative contribution and not a minute too soon – dead line at end of week. See procrastination abounds.

Challenge 3. I have also chosen this card for a clients request for a Birthday Card for her friend who is 89. I hope the tactile feel will help with her enjoyment of the card. Now you know, think no more. Save the grey matter for creating, not wondering!

THE CARD.Butterfly challenge main card

I used Whisper White and Melon Mambo card stock with the new Painted Blooms DSP.

The small butterflies were from Papillion Potpourri the large from the Thinlits Butterflies and the sentiment Butterfly Basics. You can purchase the bundle for both of these at reduced price off them when purchased individually, on my Stampin! Up! web.

Butterfly card top section    The little green frame was cut from the DSP paper and glued to the Whisper White which had been stamped prior to attaching.

I glued the tulip covered DSP on the bottom third before embossing, then I cut out the circle.

Large ButterflyWhen I attached the Whisper White butterfly I just moved it down a fraction so that the Melon Mambo one peeped through.  Attaching a couple of Rhinestones completed the front of the card. It was then attached to Melon Mambo card stock and personalised inside.  Hope you enjoy it.

Now for  some serious stuff.
These questions are what you will read on each of the blogs. So interesting finding out what motivates others.
1.  What are you working on?
Being the newbie it has been this blog, and ALL that is involved from watermarks, uploads, links, media extras and I’m still not there. Being a new distributor I find there are lots of challenges and some steep learning curves but with each step I feel more empowered to make this really work. There is soooo much help in the Stampin’Up! Community there really is no excuse not to succeed. Well maybe ill health, but touch wood I’m great.

2.  How does your work differ from others in your genre?
As yet, thank goodness, it’s not work, and I hope it never becomes that. I’m retired you know!! Each person brings their entire life to the creative process as do I, so in that respect as no one else has had my life, I do differ from others, if only in small ways. I love the quote

“Be Yourself, everyone else is taken.”

3.  Why do you create what you do?
Mostly for the sheer pleasure the tactile aspect of cards creates in me. All things paper are in my blood (see about me) so my starting point is here. There is a sense of satisfaction, with a rye smile, when I have made a card that I have not cased from Pinterest or elsewhere. Just sensing what works and what doesn’t as I create is very satisfying. Then when I’m not 100% happy with the effort and recreate the same with changes. Viola my spirit sores! I love the fact that one formula I not longer have to deal with and that’s all the colour matching. It’s has been done with Stampin Up! and that makes the process so much more relaxed.

4.  How does your creative process work?
I have always been a collator of images and words. Having been a student that loved projects at school.(I still have some of those books.) Some times an idea will be fermenting away in that grey matter for weeks before I actually start to create ie., the above card 3 weeks of mulling over. By then I will have a petty good idea of the stamps, colours and layout I want to use. Of course it still can go wrong. The idea doesn’t measure up to the ideal. This little fellow was my first attempt at the above card. One I didn't want Both nice cards but I like first one better.

I have moved on from creating a lot of different hobbies that I am capable of, due mainly  to space restrictions and “been there done that” syndrome.

Creative Blog Hop happens every week and being a newbie I don’t know others yet but please pop over and visit these pages.

I feel very relaxed with Leonies blog, lots to see here and an Aussie too. http://www.stamp-a-latte.com/creative-blog-hop/

Also try Sue Erikson blog she has a delightful card at the moment using the Petals stamp brush set. http://www.soggystamper.com/2015/01/creative-blog-hop

Thanks for taking the time to read all this. Now you know a little more about me. Happy Stamping. Naomi
