Crafty Creations Mother’s Day

Well what a week it’s been.

Just to cap it off, today the pressure was on with a surprise on the inside of our card. I created a real challenge, with the little butterfly floating above the card.  CC Mother's DayInside butterfly

We used the pretty flowers from Flowering Fields, (Retired)  and stamped them onto a 7cm circle then coloured  them in. The small butterfly was popped up.

A piece of Blushing Bride was scored in half for the base card.

Butterflies  from Papillon Pourri  were randomly stamped inside on Wisteria Wonder.  The Whisper White was scored at  1″ 3¾”and 4½”  folded then cut with smaller circle on the fold.

Two butterflies were stamped in Melon Mambo and glued back to back onto a piece of Window Sheet. This was inserted under the fold and glued at each end, to give the floating effect. The White card stock was then glued to the center of the Blushing Bride leaving a small gap either side of crease to allow card to close.

As you can see the ladies added various greetings and these were stamped onto Wisteria Wonder in Memento.  With a piece of Washi Tape across  behind the circle, a bow and found heart button  the card was complete.CC April22 Centre Pic

If you look closely you will see one lady chose her own design and a little heart from a chocolate. Well done Rose! Good to see individual creativity.
Till next week.

Crafty Creations Washi Tape

Well girls! That was fun and how exciting are these lovely cards.

I do have to credit Craftyperson for the first card idea.

Crafty Creations

Our first card was made by using the Large leaf  from  the Botanical Builder Framelit Die, to create a window in the Basic Black CS.  Washi Tape was layered on to a separate piece of card stock then glued behind the leaf. The Left hand side  was cut with the long leaf die.

This was then popped up highlighting the Washi tape. This was  then adhered onto Whisper White CS and  3 small flowers and Words from Expression Natural Elements glued with sticky dots to the front.

Supply List

Our second card the girls used their own Washi Tape and a couple of tiny butterflies
They all look great and colourful.
Well done!!

Better now than Never – Botanicals

Another Monday is upon us and I’m pleased to say I FINALLY finished the challenge from the March 23rd. I must admit that I had the background done for quiet some time but the front elements just wouldn’t come.

Thanks to this Friday’s Crafty Creations class I had a couple of leaves from their card, out of the Botanical Builder Framelits Set, near the Big Shot and creation happened. OK girls now you have a hint!

Hope you like the card, I’m happy with it now. The creative struggle I think was worth it.

Remember the colours?  Perfect Plum, Pumpkin Pie, Sahara Sand and Whisper White.  – not colours I usually work with but they have come up a treat.

March Challenge3

Kisses came from the Party Pants in the SAB. I added the ‘X’ with the Project Life  Journaling Pen. The background was randomly stamped then cut into the strips using  Timeless Textures.

Colour and Template Challenge

Here I am as promised. Found a minute of time to upload the pictures for the template Challenge.
It was certainly fun with the Shaving Cream Technique for the backgrounds – my craft area smells real nice now- a very floral scented aftershave I seemed to have chosen. If you would like to know more information on how to do this technique please go to the Technique Treats page.

I love the surprise you get with each colouring, as you can see by the cards, no two backgrounds are alike.

The colours used here are Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss and Watermelon Wonder with Whisper White.  The flower is a 3 step image from the SAB Catalogue, What I Love. I stamped with the main colour then stamped off for the second. I only did two steps.

Reminder: You have one week to order this stamp set for your selves before it is whisked away never to be seen again.

Having adhered my flowers to a matching circle I popped the middle one up on Dimensionals and added a Wink of Stella and a pearl to complete. The Sentiment is from the same SAB – Perfect Pairings.

Special Baby

Friends and Flowers
A Little Miracle.

I was asked by a lady near where I live if I could make a card for her niece who has a premmie baby still in hospital. The wee one was born a month ago and while everything is looking good it is still a stressful time for all the family.  Because I loved what Judith Ritter-Österle has done with the Friends and Flowers stamp set this little card sprang to mind.

It’s a compilation of what I had at hand, some retired, some new products, some not Stampin’ Up!.  The lady was delighted and really that’s all that matters.

The Whisper White base  (21cm x 15cm or 8¼ x 57/8)  folded in half. The  Pacific Point CS (10cm x 14cm or 4″ x 51/2 ) was embossed with the Happy Heart Embossing Folder then glued to base.

I stamped the petals and baby onto some Whisper White scraps, punched out with matching Festive Flower Builder Punch and coloured in the baby. They were arranged and attached to the frame from Spellbinders Decorative Die Frame one, with sticky dots.  Pretty but not one of ours. Then glued to base.

I reverted to the Stampin’ Up! My Digital Studio Miracle Baby(retired) for the sentiment from A Word for You. After printing I used the frame from Chalk Talk Framelits    which was created by running it through the big shot half way, flipping the frame, inserting back into the cut section and cutting the other half.

Inside was this sentiment I had…. just right for this little fighter.

Enjoy.

PS Just heard news am a grandmother again, number 9 so another baby card soon.

EXPLODING BIRTHDAY CARD IN A BOX

I know it’s been way too long and while there is no excuse for my procrastination, here are some that might get me off the hook –

  • Husbands 70th birthday and visiting family from Tasmania have consumed time and love.
  • Grandson’s electric wheelchair broken down so Nanny has now resumed the school run morning and night – never thought I would be back here on a daily basis. All good though.
  • Weather, how did that song go “Always blame the weather”! So hot here and with my  crafting gear outside, not real practical to craft for too long at a time.
  •  After the rush of the blog hop my mo jo waned.

Having said all that I have not been completely idle and have enjoyed making this card for eldest daughters birthday. Some of you know her from Deanies Kids Cuts.

Anyone visiting cards on Pinterest would have seen these wonderful creations and I have been keen to give them a go for some time now. Nadene’s birthday presented a perfect opportunity.

Nadene The flowers were stamped with the Flower Shop Clear stamp  set in Regals Elegant Eggplant, Island Indigo, Rose Red  and Crushed Curry inks  onto Whisper white and punched with the Pansy Punch.

Some smaller flowers from the Petite Petals Stamp set were stamped in Crushed Curry and punched with Petite Petals punch.

The same inks were used for the butterfly’s from the Papillon Potpourri then punched with the Elegant and Bitty butterfly punches. Leaves were punched Nadene 21using the Bird Builder punch in Garden Green Card stock.

The base card was Garden Green with panels from Sale-a-bration’s Painted Blooms Series paper  mounted onto Whisper White card stock.

The sentiment was stamped onto Whisper White using the stamp from Flower Patch Stamps in Island Indigo. Punched out with the Decorative label Punch.  The same punch was used to add backing in Garden Green.

For instructions and measurement I give credit to Sandi  MacIver  who is an awesome creator/card maker.  This is the link to her Explosion card. Thanks for your efforts Sandi.

TRIPLE CHALLENGE

What is a triple challenge I hear you think?

Challenge 1. Well for me today’s blog is the first one.  I have been invited by Miss Vicky to be part of the creative blog hop where following links you can see, learn, admire and recreate so much about the craft you love. Links and answers to questions all participants are asked are at the bottom of this blog. Thanks Vicky for taking me by surprise and showing faith in my creations.

Challenge 2. I am part of a small group of people at Caloundra Community Center called Crafty Creations and Vicky has organised a monthly card challenge. 1--January-2015You can see them here on Vicky’s face book page Stamps,Paper and Stuff.  Any one is welcome to join in. This is our first one. This is my creative contribution and not a minute too soon – dead line at end of week. See procrastination abounds.

Challenge 3. I have also chosen this card for a clients request for a Birthday Card for her friend who is 89. I hope the tactile feel will help with her enjoyment of the card. Now you know, think no more. Save the grey matter for creating, not wondering!

THE CARD.Butterfly challenge main card

I used Whisper White and Melon Mambo card stock with the new Painted Blooms DSP.

The small butterflies were from Papillion Potpourri the large from the Thinlits Butterflies and the sentiment Butterfly Basics. You can purchase the bundle for both of these at reduced price off them when purchased individually, on my Stampin! Up! web.

Butterfly card top section    The little green frame was cut from the DSP paper and glued to the Whisper White which had been stamped prior to attaching.

I glued the tulip covered DSP on the bottom third before embossing, then I cut out the circle.

Large ButterflyWhen I attached the Whisper White butterfly I just moved it down a fraction so that the Melon Mambo one peeped through.  Attaching a couple of Rhinestones completed the front of the card. It was then attached to Melon Mambo card stock and personalised inside.  Hope you enjoy it.

Now for  some serious stuff.
These questions are what you will read on each of the blogs. So interesting finding out what motivates others.
1.  What are you working on?
Being the newbie it has been this blog, and ALL that is involved from watermarks, uploads, links, media extras and I’m still not there. Being a new distributor I find there are lots of challenges and some steep learning curves but with each step I feel more empowered to make this really work. There is soooo much help in the Stampin’Up! Community there really is no excuse not to succeed. Well maybe ill health, but touch wood I’m great.

2.  How does your work differ from others in your genre?
As yet, thank goodness, it’s not work, and I hope it never becomes that. I’m retired you know!! Each person brings their entire life to the creative process as do I, so in that respect as no one else has had my life, I do differ from others, if only in small ways. I love the quote

“Be Yourself, everyone else is taken.”

3.  Why do you create what you do?
Mostly for the sheer pleasure the tactile aspect of cards creates in me. All things paper are in my blood (see about me) so my starting point is here. There is a sense of satisfaction, with a rye smile, when I have made a card that I have not cased from Pinterest or elsewhere. Just sensing what works and what doesn’t as I create is very satisfying. Then when I’m not 100% happy with the effort and recreate the same with changes. Viola my spirit sores! I love the fact that one formula I not longer have to deal with and that’s all the colour matching. It’s has been done with Stampin Up! and that makes the process so much more relaxed.

4.  How does your creative process work?
I have always been a collator of images and words. Having been a student that loved projects at school.(I still have some of those books.) Some times an idea will be fermenting away in that grey matter for weeks before I actually start to create ie., the above card 3 weeks of mulling over. By then I will have a petty good idea of the stamps, colours and layout I want to use. Of course it still can go wrong. The idea doesn’t measure up to the ideal. This little fellow was my first attempt at the above card. One I didn't want Both nice cards but I like first one better.

I have moved on from creating a lot of different hobbies that I am capable of, due mainly  to space restrictions and “been there done that” syndrome.

Creative Blog Hop happens every week and being a newbie I don’t know others yet but please pop over and visit these pages.

I feel very relaxed with Leonies blog, lots to see here and an Aussie too. http://www.stamp-a-latte.com/creative-blog-hop/

Also try Sue Erikson blog she has a delightful card at the moment using the Petals stamp brush set. http://www.soggystamper.com/2015/01/creative-blog-hop

Thanks for taking the time to read all this. Now you know a little more about me. Happy Stamping. Naomi

THANKYOU CARD

I have been delighted with this little stamp, Lotus BlossomIMG(3), as well as have many others, judging from the pinterest uploads.  It’s from Sale-a-bration Catalogue.  I needed some thank you cards for my customers that highlighted the great offer on at the moment. (Thanks to Rose for scanning these images as I forgot to get image before giving to her.)

I used Tangerine Tango, Old Olive and Tempting Turquoise inks and papers. I embossed a backing piece of Very Vanilla card stock 3/4 way up with the new  Happy Hearts folder, adhered some washi tape and glued to the tempting turquoise.   I then punched my stamped image out with the Tag Topper Scallop Punch backed it with punched Tangerine Tango card, attached ribbon and butterfly and I was done put it on the very vanilla again then the Tangerine Tango. Voila all done.

Inside was stamped image from You Brighten My Day Stamp Set IMG_0002(3)and the Butterfly Basics for the leaves and butterfly.

Wow! this blog was far more time consuming than the card, for a newbie any way. Stay tuned I’ll get quicker and smarter. Never know what you might learn here! You may have noticed no watermarked logo on my card. I have  a lovely one made and will work out the use soon.  Yesterdays post had to happen first.

OK Time for coffee!! PS Clicking on below images takes you to my online web page where you too can purchase them and create.
