Crafty Creations Friday 16th December

It was our last week for the term on Friday and so we closed with a secret project. I love the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlit Die and have wanted to make a luminary with it for ages. So now was the perfect opportunity.

We used the Thick Whisper White CS and Vellum with the retired Sleigh Ride Edgelits and the Flurry of Wishes Stamp Set.

crafty-creations-december-16th

With the room lights were out they did glow beautifully and the little fake candles last a long time. So that you can turn them on and off the bow and Sentiment were made as a separate piece and attached with velcro.

I have just about worn out the die making them for friends, once they saw them it was a “I want one!” catch cry. Hope you like them as much as the class did.

We were fortunate in being hosted at Irmas for a break up coffee and a chat after class. So a big thank you to Irma and the class for all their well wishes, gifts and support.

See you all in 2017.  Naomi Connolly

Aussie Christmas

Just thought I’d share these little beauties. I haven’t used all  Stampin’ Up! products but combined some with what I had or dies  from Rose.

They were for a special order that asked for Aussie Christmas and kangaroos to post overseas.

These are the finished groups.  Hope the distant relatives all like them.  Cheers Naomi

Crafty creations November 25th

Let it Snow …. Elsewhere!   Here in Australia the seasonal Christmas cards depicting Snow don’t suit our climate so here at Crafty’s we made one with a difference. Hope you like it.

We stamped the sun from Day at the Beach  in Daffodil Delight then sponged over in Peekaboo Peach. We  sponged the sky in Soft Sky, the water with Pool Party, and the sand in Tip Top Taupe then added highlights in Crumb Cake with the dots in the Swirly Bird Stamp Set. The grass was from In the Meadow  and stamped in  Lost Lagoon, now retired.

Of course the sail boat is from Swirly Birds as well, in Real Red and Crumb Cake. Inside we continued using the Day at the Beach with words from Endless Wishes retired also.

Several of our ladies were away this week and Betty has moved further up the Queensland Coast to a retirement village. We wish her all the best in her new home but she will be missed.

Rescue Remedy

I was having a Christmas Card marathon and then my Stampin’ Up! order arrived.

Happy Day!  Along with goodies for the girls,  I ordered  the Stitched from the Heart Framelits., our November Special with %25 off selected stamps as well. I had (as we all do now and then) just made a blob of ink in the wrong place and was Grrrring at myself when inspiration struck.

I grabbed the framelits, some This Christmas DSP owland proceeded to mix and match and this is what resulted. I was quiet happy at the rescue and who would know!  The stitched impression is right next to the edge and very fine. Matching perfectly with the Layering Circles and Ovals.

Remember it’s not the only way to get a stitched effect. Check out our Technique Treats #10 for Faux Stitching.

“Waste not want not!” my Mother said.

Bye catch you next time.

Technique Treats November 2016

I had to look up the International timeline today to make sure somewhere in the world it is Saturday!!  Because SATURDAY, 1st of the month, is when you lucky people can purchase our delightful Techniques Treats . I missed yesterday here in Australia but  better ‘late then never’ as the saying goes. Apologies to those of you who checked in yesterday.

As you can see by the image we are bringing you two great techniques that are highlighted in Christmas cards. Certainly international cards need to be in the post very soon to reach your loved ones in time for the Happy Holiday.

We bring you the Faux Silk and Faux Stitching this month together with the stamp sets Reason for the Season and Embellished Ornaments.

As we always seek to listen to what our customers want and make any necessary changes we are happy to assure you that you are welcome  to use these in classes and demonstrations.   In fact they are ideal as all the work is done for you!

Just read the list of benefits to see why I say that!  Follow the precise instructions, make your demonstration card, cut your kits, then on the class day just set up your iPad and refer to the PDF if necessary, no more need for notes.  How simple and a fantastic time saver!

Let us know how you get on, or better yet send us some pics of your classes and we will post on Pinterest.

Take care

Naomi

Crafty Creations “Happy” October

Hello everyone.

Some times you have a few of your favorite colours left from a project and not sure how to use up the scraps. Well look no further! This technique ticks a lot of boxes:

Quick (although the crafty class didn’t think so)
Colourful
Endless variations
Very little measuring
Cost effective.
Card stock,  DSP,  Washi Tape all can be used.

OK so it’s not by any means an original idea but we loved how they all turned out. crafty-happy-october

Unfortunately the shining and glitter papers don’t show to good effect here but they look great in real life.

The original I sourced from  Jennifer McGuire. Thank you Jennifer.

I did make other choices for the group, but they all chose Happy Christmas, that time of the year I guess.

While the list below may look like a lot of product we only used scraps, cut into random strips and laid randomly or in a sequence on some label paper. Then we used the Hello You Thinlit die to cut the words out, carefully saving the tiny pieces and then glued them back in place.
That was fun keeping track of them and sorting what went where and which way is up!!
The card was finished with a sentiment that was embossed in Copper Embossing powder (Love Love Love it!! ) from Versatile Christmas (retired).
The group went home with the words die cut to make another card with as a bonus.
Hint: You can colour the Dazzling Diamonds glimmer Paper with your inks!!
Cheers, Take care
