Just a blog!

This morning I woke to find that there was a challenge on the Sunny Stampers Face book page. In order not to to blot my record of 100% challenges done so far this year I quickly set about completing it.

So what was it you wonder?  A set of colours to follow? A template to make a card from? A stamp set to be used? A question to be answered?

Well no, none of those, just do an extra blog so that’s why I’m here today.

This was a quick card I made for a customer thank you. I already had the background in my stash as this month’s Technique Treats is about using Marbling with shaving cream and using Marbles to create backgrounds.

When you do one you may as well do a few, no two are ever the same so your cards will be unique.

To complete the card all I had to do was adhere  it on some Melon Mambo CS, put a strip of Washi tape across the top, attach doily and die cut flower, a couple of Enamel Shapes and my stamped greeting  – card done.

If you would like to know how to create the background come back on the Saturday 4th February for our Technique Treats Tutorials.

That’s it challenge done.

Hope to see you back here on the 4th if not before!!

Crafty Creations 22nd July

We have Rachel Zmolik to thank for this weeks card. She made several cards using the new Shooting Star and Sliding Star Framelit Dies , then as happens with Pinterest  Gail discovered it and requested we make one. Always happy to oblige.

We changed it a bit, adding the sun from the Swirly Birds Stamp Set, a couple of birds, a greeting and an coloured tree.

Bike and sheltering tree
Sheltering Tree and Swirly Birds

We used some buttons behind each of the wheels so they were hidden well but still allowed the bike to move along the curve. Because they all used different inks the cards have a unique individual look. The two cards on the left have their card fronts mounted on green backgrounds – a happy mistake that turned out well when the stamping was started on the wrong piece of card stock!  My little birds on the top card are there to cover an extra dob of ink that crept into the wrong place! I love that about card making. Mistakes are easily rectified and sometimes add more to the card as does the sun on the top left hand card and the sponged background. It look great.

Thanks for stopping bye. More next Friday.

Crafty Creations June 17

As promised I said I’d show you what the talented ladies made at the Caloundra Community Center today.

As you can see from the images there were varied coloured inks used as well as differing sentiments but Hey! they all look great. It may not show but two people added a Wink of Stella to add some shine to their moon and stars as well.

Everyone agrees that this stamp set Lovely as a Tree is one that’s very versatile.

As we were sponging, there were some “This isn’t looking right!” “Mine doesn’t look like yours!” “I’ve mucked it up again!”  and I’d say “Just keep sponging, it will be OK!” and sure enough once we stamped the trees the ladies could see how it all comes together and were pleased with their, in some cases, first attempt at sponging.

If you would like to know more go to the Technique Treats Page and choose the first Tutorial on Sponging and Re-inkers.

Well done! Hope to see more sponging on your cards ladies!

Catalogue Launch

One more sleep, as the grandchildren would say, before my flight and 13 more sleeps till the Catalogue Launch on the 1st June. So before I head off to Tasmania I just wanted to show you a picture of some of the great cards you can make from the new catalogue.

Check those little mason jars out!!!  They are so cute!  There are 3 jars in 3 different sizes, a goldfish, ribbons, twine, flowers, greetings,  a stamp for contents and jar bottoms, and a tiny buzzing bee plus more in the stamp set.Their name says it all  Jar of Love and Everyday Jar Framelits.   What’s more it is a bundle!   These are a must have on my list, so many cards can be made with them, my imagination is runinng overtime.  I know one lady who may be eager to get her set. That right Betty?

Perfect for shaker cards too!

Of course the cards showcase the new colours as well. My favorite so far is the Flirty Flamingo shown here on the Hello card. What’s yours?

That’s it for today. So much to do and so little time to do it!

Thanks for stopping by. Make sure you come back to see the Shopkins card on Friday!

While you are here why not sign up then you won’t miss a post.

Happy Crafting.

Crafty Creations Washi Tape

Well girls! That was fun and how exciting are these lovely cards.

I do have to credit Craftyperson for the first card idea.

Crafty Creations

Our first card was made by using the Large leaf  from  the Botanical Builder Framelit Die, to create a window in the Basic Black CS.  Washi Tape was layered on to a separate piece of card stock then glued behind the leaf. The Left hand side  was cut with the long leaf die.

This was then popped up highlighting the Washi tape. This was  then adhered onto Whisper White CS and  3 small flowers and Words from Expression Natural Elements glued with sticky dots to the front.

Supply List

Our second card the girls used their own Washi Tape and a couple of tiny butterflies
They all look great and colourful.
Well done!!

Thank you

Thank you’s with a thank you to Kathie Durgan. Some things are just so timely, call it Karma, coincidence, meant to be but just as my free papers arrived and I needed some thank you cards for stampers Kathie created a post.

I immediately grabbed the papers and my Envelope Maker and reproduced these cards, with a couple of variations. thankyou

I can feel the excitement building, one day to go before orders can be placed from the new Stampin’Up Catalog.
I know you have your catalogs and are eager to get creating with some of the exciting products on display. Over at Vickie’s blog she has created some lovely cards with the new colors and stamps. Pop over and see after you have looked at my offering with the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set and two of the 2015/16 colors.

What a great way to help Ronald McDonald House Charities. On the news the other night they showed the  new fantastic building going up next to the children’s hospital in Brisbane  that is in need of more funding so get behind them with this stamp set.

I have chosen to limit myself to two colors, Tip Top Taupe and Cucumber Crush. What about the white you say, well according to my son when he was 6, years ago, in his “I’m right”, voice which he often was, it’s a shade called Whisper White.  The Internet will agree and disagree but I like to remember him when I’m using black or white.

DSC00026-001

It is a simple layout with the background paper from Irresistibly Yours DSP sponged in the Tip Top Taupe Ink. One scalloped 8cm circle in Cucumber Crush and one 7cm in Whisper White, which were popped up with dimensionals provided the resting place for the tree.

This tree, after stamping from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set  was  punched with the Tree Builder Punch.

Sentiment was from the Simply Wonderful Stamp Set and stamped on Whisper White  Card Stock then cut with the Chalk Talk Framelits with the Big Shot.  The under mount, in Tip Top Taupe was created with the same framelit cut half way, then the framelit reversed, put through the Big Shot again, cut half way to create the other end.

A pretty bow with Organza Ribbon, topped with the little bird from the Tree Builder Punch, attached with sticky dots helped fill the card.

I Stamped the sentiment and the Tree from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp set inside and the card was complete.

Till next time Happy Crafting.

PS: In case you were were wondering, the scallop was die cut using KaiserCraft Scallop Nesting Die

TRIPLE CHALLENGE

What is a triple challenge I hear you think?

Challenge 1. Well for me today’s blog is the first one.  I have been invited by Miss Vicky to be part of the creative blog hop where following links you can see, learn, admire and recreate so much about the craft you love. Links and answers to questions all participants are asked are at the bottom of this blog. Thanks Vicky for taking me by surprise and showing faith in my creations.

Challenge 2. I am part of a small group of people at Caloundra Community Center called Crafty Creations and Vicky has organised a monthly card challenge. 1--January-2015You can see them here on Vicky’s face book page Stamps,Paper and Stuff.  Any one is welcome to join in. This is our first one. This is my creative contribution and not a minute too soon – dead line at end of week. See procrastination abounds.

Challenge 3. I have also chosen this card for a clients request for a Birthday Card for her friend who is 89. I hope the tactile feel will help with her enjoyment of the card. Now you know, think no more. Save the grey matter for creating, not wondering!

THE CARD.Butterfly challenge main card

I used Whisper White and Melon Mambo card stock with the new Painted Blooms DSP.

The small butterflies were from Papillion Potpourri the large from the Thinlits Butterflies and the sentiment Butterfly Basics. You can purchase the bundle for both of these at reduced price off them when purchased individually, on my Stampin! Up! web.

Butterfly card top section    The little green frame was cut from the DSP paper and glued to the Whisper White which had been stamped prior to attaching.

I glued the tulip covered DSP on the bottom third before embossing, then I cut out the circle.

Large ButterflyWhen I attached the Whisper White butterfly I just moved it down a fraction so that the Melon Mambo one peeped through.  Attaching a couple of Rhinestones completed the front of the card. It was then attached to Melon Mambo card stock and personalised inside.  Hope you enjoy it.

Now for  some serious stuff.
These questions are what you will read on each of the blogs. So interesting finding out what motivates others.
1.  What are you working on?
Being the newbie it has been this blog, and ALL that is involved from watermarks, uploads, links, media extras and I’m still not there. Being a new distributor I find there are lots of challenges and some steep learning curves but with each step I feel more empowered to make this really work. There is soooo much help in the Stampin’Up! Community there really is no excuse not to succeed. Well maybe ill health, but touch wood I’m great.

2.  How does your work differ from others in your genre?
As yet, thank goodness, it’s not work, and I hope it never becomes that. I’m retired you know!! Each person brings their entire life to the creative process as do I, so in that respect as no one else has had my life, I do differ from others, if only in small ways. I love the quote

“Be Yourself, everyone else is taken.”

3.  Why do you create what you do?
Mostly for the sheer pleasure the tactile aspect of cards creates in me. All things paper are in my blood (see about me) so my starting point is here. There is a sense of satisfaction, with a rye smile, when I have made a card that I have not cased from Pinterest or elsewhere. Just sensing what works and what doesn’t as I create is very satisfying. Then when I’m not 100% happy with the effort and recreate the same with changes. Viola my spirit sores! I love the fact that one formula I not longer have to deal with and that’s all the colour matching. It’s has been done with Stampin Up! and that makes the process so much more relaxed.

4.  How does your creative process work?
I have always been a collator of images and words. Having been a student that loved projects at school.(I still have some of those books.) Some times an idea will be fermenting away in that grey matter for weeks before I actually start to create ie., the above card 3 weeks of mulling over. By then I will have a petty good idea of the stamps, colours and layout I want to use. Of course it still can go wrong. The idea doesn’t measure up to the ideal. This little fellow was my first attempt at the above card. One I didn't want Both nice cards but I like first one better.

I have moved on from creating a lot of different hobbies that I am capable of, due mainly  to space restrictions and “been there done that” syndrome.

Creative Blog Hop happens every week and being a newbie I don’t know others yet but please pop over and visit these pages.

I feel very relaxed with Leonies blog, lots to see here and an Aussie too. http://www.stamp-a-latte.com/creative-blog-hop/

Also try Sue Erikson blog she has a delightful card at the moment using the Petals stamp brush set. http://www.soggystamper.com/2015/01/creative-blog-hop

Thanks for taking the time to read all this. Now you know a little more about me. Happy Stamping. Naomi

THANKYOU CARD

I have been delighted with this little stamp, Lotus BlossomIMG(3), as well as have many others, judging from the pinterest uploads.  It’s from Sale-a-bration Catalogue.  I needed some thank you cards for my customers that highlighted the great offer on at the moment. (Thanks to Rose for scanning these images as I forgot to get image before giving to her.)

I used Tangerine Tango, Old Olive and Tempting Turquoise inks and papers. I embossed a backing piece of Very Vanilla card stock 3/4 way up with the new  Happy Hearts folder, adhered some washi tape and glued to the tempting turquoise.   I then punched my stamped image out with the Tag Topper Scallop Punch backed it with punched Tangerine Tango card, attached ribbon and butterfly and I was done put it on the very vanilla again then the Tangerine Tango. Voila all done.

Inside was stamped image from You Brighten My Day Stamp Set IMG_0002(3)and the Butterfly Basics for the leaves and butterfly.

Wow! this blog was far more time consuming than the card, for a newbie any way. Stay tuned I’ll get quicker and smarter. Never know what you might learn here! You may have noticed no watermarked logo on my card. I have  a lovely one made and will work out the use soon.  Yesterdays post had to happen first.

OK Time for coffee!! PS Clicking on below images takes you to my online web page where you too can purchase them and create.
