Carousel Birthday 3yr old.

It’s often funny how we can fall in love with a stamp set.

The only reason I purchased this set was because we had decided to use it as our featured stamp set in the March Technique Treats that will feature Chalkboard Techniques.

I would have to admit it wasn’t a “must have” in the catalogue.

And Laugh out Loud I have used it consistently for the last 4 weeks. and to day’s card is just another example.

I have been making cards for this little miss since she was born for a friend and what did she say when her Nan asked her what she wanted for her birthday? Just my card Nanny, just my card.

She has a toy Carousel and lives near the Wheel of Brisbane and loves Cup Cakes. So I think I hit all  the bases. Nan tells me that the big grin and Whee!! was testimony enough.

sightseeing_portrait_360x270px

I stamped the wheel on the Cupcake and Carousel DSP. I stamped the cup cakes, the basket and cloud from the Lift me Up Stamp Set, on Whisper White and coloured them in with the Watercolor Pencils. Then used the Up and Away Thinlit die to cut them out.  The clouds were from the same thinlits. Love how these two compliment one another.

Sentiments inside were stamped in Tuxedo Black as was the horse. I used the Oval Stitched framelits Die after I had coloured the horse and then just gently coloured the edges.

The birthday sentiment was stamped in Blushing Bride.

That’s it for today.

Happy Stamping Naomi

Mixer Mix Up!

I had  finished unpacking my order and playing with the Watercolor Pencils and the Hey Chick stamp on a card and had used the Perfect Mix egg crate on the inside of the card when I thought “While you have all that gear out just make another card!”

Bad decision, not thought through, because I chose the Mixer image for the front of the card and teamed it with the Measurement spoons inside. That’s fine but in my haste I didn’t look closely at the Mixer and busily coloured away thinking” That’s an unusual mixer, it has a place for a logo or something on the side!” and promptly coloured it in.

I could be forgiven if I didn’t cook, for the mistake, or had never seen a mixer!

It took me 3 days before, glancing at the card, I realised it’s a handle and had to make another front.  Thank goodness I didn’t take it to class. That would have been a right old giggle!!

So here’s the (fixed ), not so quick, card.

May your beaters always turn, and your colours blend perfectly!

Enjoy!

Just had to have another play with the Watercolor Pencils.

Now I must admit that I have never really been able to get the hang of Stamp’ Write Markers, Blender pens or the Copics to my satisfaction. Mind you I know it’s practice, practice, practice which I confess I don’t do enough of.  (I am not knocking these and yes I do use the Write Markers and Blender Pens now and then).

BUT these little guys, Watercolour pencils,  are pure MAGIC…. a little scribble, a blend with the Aqua painter and you will find the artist in you emerging.

This time I used the Watercolor Paper – super absorbent- and the Birthday Blooms stamp Set. with a background in One Wild Ride.

I found the inspiration in the 2016 Annual Catalogue, just switched it around a bit.

I have even created a  Tutorial for you with a list of supplies and measurements. Just click and download the PDF.

Beautiful You

Have been playing with this delightful stamp set but not wanting to repeat what has been on Pinterest. There are some awesome examples of what you can do with the new stamp sets from the Occasions and Sale-A-Bration Catalogues on there but I like to use my creative brain when I can. After all the more I use it the less likely I am to get Alzheimers.

Now what was I talking about?

Oh yes the card below.

She was created by using Paper Piecing, to see how download the tutorial.

Here Beautiful You #9

Teddy Time.

This little fella has been lingering in my stamping supplies for a while now and as there are no new babies on the way I had wondered when he would get some use. Then Elijah turned one and YES! I know what I can do.

elijahs-teddy

He is filled with Love is Baby Bear. From the Falling Petals (very like little hearts) embossing folder to his Dapper Denim Heart of love at the front.

Teddy was  first stamped with Soft Suede, then I stamped off with  Early Espresso and finally just Early Espresso.

I must say it took me a couple practices to line him but am very happy with final results. His bow is a two step with Soft Sky followed by Dapper Denim.

The sentiment LOOK WHO’S TURNING, stamped in Emerald Envy is from  the Number of Years stamp set, as is the number 1, which was stamped in Dapper Denim and cut out with the Large Number Framelit Dies.

The circle was cut with the large Stitched framelit Die. That way I get to use the circle on another project. Just located the name of the DSP — Blooms and Bliss.

The heart was from the snowflake Card thinlit die, now retired. Behind the heart is some Gold Metal thread. Apart from my Teddy practice this was a quick  and simple card.

Hope you enjoyed him.

PS : This is really a post for my upline who gave me a challenge to post to some of the social media sites so always up for a challenge and here it is.!!

Cheers.

A Little Nest.

So much to do and so little time, so a quick post hoping that you have all had a safe and Happy Christmas.  Crafty Creations  are on holidays but just to keep in touch and keep your creative juices flowing I’m sharing this little toddlers card.

Can you identify which stamp set the little nest is from? How many guessed the Swirly Birds Set. Well done you!

The papers are Whisper White and Flirty Flamingo. Inks used Blushing Bride, and Flirty Flamingo and Basic Grey for the nest.2nd-birthday

The embossed background used  the Seaside EF, a versatile folder, not just for sea themed cards!!   Love the Layering Oval Dies, makes framing so quick and easy. The sentiment was from a free retired Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set, Party Pants. Getting these free stamps sets is a quick way to build up your supply. You are all so lucky to be able to do that soon.

Number 2 is a Large Number Framelit and the little suit Something for Baby SS and Baby’s First Framelits. All topped off by some flowers using the Blooming Heart Thinlits and dotted with some black pearls.

Get ready for the NEW YEAR.

I am, lots of organising and sorting so can have a super year.  Cheers Naomi

40th Celebrations

Hope you have all had a good Christmas and are enjoying the lull between now and the New Year. I am in crafting mode as all other work on hold. As promised to self I am busy sorting stamps so stay posted as there will be some bargains coming soon. And that’s not even a New Years Resolution!!

In between time I have been playing – serious play- with the new So in Love Bundle. It is from the 2017 Occasions Catalogue available for order  January 4th. (If you don’t have your copy yet and would like one just contact me)

I had an order for a 40th Birshiny-so-in-lovethday card and knew this delicate set would suit just perfectly.

My card base was  Whisper White, then a layer of Blushing Bride, followed by  Whisper White CS with a layer of Falling in Love DSP across the bottom two thirds. I then ran this through the Big Shot with the new Falling Petals Textured EF – mind you I think they look like hearts, not petals. The little hearts suited my card perfectly.

I cut the flowers from Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper, with the So Detailed Thinlit Die making sure I had the glitter side down on my cutting plate with the die on the backing paper. This way the cut works best and I had no trouble with the detailed cutting.

There is a thick border section to the die that I placed on my join and covered with White  Organza ribbon.

Using the Larinside-sio-in-lovege Number Framelits I glued a Pretty In Pink CS one over a Whisper White CS One, setting just off center, to give a shadow effect then coloured them in Wink of Stella Clear.  These were popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals, as was the retired sentiment.

To complete the front of the card card I added a tiny heart from the Owl Builder to the front of the bow.

Inside I again used the So Detailed Thinlit Die  as an embossing folder this time,(Technique Treats #11) .

To finish the card I highlighted the embossing with Wink of Stella,  added my verse and card complete.

Hope you enjoy it.  Just one of the may delights that are in the new catalogue. Stay tuned for more ideas coming soon.

Stay Safe Naomi.

Crafty Creations for 18th November

No post last week as we didn’t complete our cards. But we managed to get that finished and one more as well. Everyone fell in love with the cute Bambi from some retired Stampin’ Up! DSP.

We did use the Torn Paper Technique to create the snow drifts at Bambi’s feet, then highlighted it with some Dazzling Diamonds sprinkled on Liquid glass.  The snowflakes, with the smaller one stamped off, were inked with Tip Top Taupe – a change for me from Crumb Cake – and came from the now retired Endless Wishes. The lovely bold sentiment is from Flurry of Wishes in the current catalogue, stamped in Chocolate Chip. The pine cones and needles  are from Peace This Christmas, stamped in Chocolate Chip and Garden Green.

A Wink of Stella, and some pearls finished this card.

novemberbambi-class

Our other card, from the week before, used the Totally Trees Stamp Set,  Botanicals For You and  The Botanical Builder Thinlits. The Whisper White was embossed with the Petal Burst EF,over laid with a strip of Irresistibly Yours DSP that was coloured in Pool Party.  Some masking of the sun and water in Pool Party and Sweet Sugar Plum made the background with the island, leaves and flowers just finishing the scene.

It feels like we were at a Tropical Island, just waiting for the bar tender to bring us some  Piña Coladas or Margarita by the waters edge. Ahhhh!

Of course like most people these days some of the inspiration was from Pinterest. Where would be without it? november-palm-tree

Crafty Creations Motor Bikes.

We were zipping her and there on Friday. We had the bike out and off we went. I realised that not everyone is enamored by motor bikes so there were alternatives to choose from.

crafty-creation-nov2

The motor bike is from the One Wild Ride in the Annual Catalogue and the Wedding Car and Truck are from retired Stampin’ Up Products. We used the Brick Wall EF on the Cajun Craze CS with some Basic black ink, then added some moss with the textured stamp from the One Wild Ride set.  A little bit of twine was wrapped around  it before using Stampin’ Up! Dimensionals to pop it up on the Basic Black Card Base.

The sentiments were stamped then cut with a die from the Bunch of Banners Framelit dies. I really like the addition of the black frame that can be created with the same Banner. Simply secure the Cajun Craze Sentiment in the frame with some Tear and Tape Adhesive at the back, before adding the Dimensionals.

Thanks to the Stampin’ Up! team for this card idea.

Next week we are making a beach themed birthday card.

Come back and check it out.

Cheers Naomi

Couple Cuties.

Now that you have all received your DSP from the October specials I think you might be looking for some ideas to use them. These little cuties use the lovely By The Shore DSP, coupled with the Day at the Beach Stamp set from the Seasonal Catalogue.

Of course you can get plenty of ideas from our Pretty paper Patterns too.

The Girl and the Boy were a couple of random stamps I had in my collection coupled with some retired framelits.

The framelit in Real Red was embossed with the Sea Side Embossing Folder.

It was fun colouring the girl and boy  with the  Stamp and Write Markers and the Blender Pen.  Colouring is very relaxing so it’s easy to see why the colouring trend has caught on! Mind you colouring a stamp and making a card means you have a give away product for your time as well.

The other elements, sun, umbrella, bucket and spade, were stamped on Whisper White and coloured before fussy cutting out and adhering with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To complete the card a pocket was needed for the necessary gift card, so I stamped and coloured the ball and thongs before embossing with the Sea Side Embossing folder. This was adhered to the base card using the Foam Adhesive Strips  which gives just the right depth for a gift card, or money. They have made my life so much easier!!

Thanks Stampin’ Up!

Off to create some more cards but make sure you check back Saturday for our Technique Treats November selection using Faux silk and Faux Stitching Techniques.

Bye! Happy stamping!!
