Crafty Creations July 14th

This card was a request, by the group, to try a reflection technique. Immediatley the “Lovely as a Tree’ stamp set came to mind.

One of the things with community groups is that there are always new members and others moving on so whilst some had used this technique for half it was new and the others happy to have a refresher.

June 14th CC

We used  Dapper Denim ink and card stock for the predominant colour,  and created the image on Very Vanilla CS. After using the window sheet to transfer the image below the trees we then over stamped the top trees in Crushed Curry, to create Autumn tones and shadows. . Whilst waiting for the ink to be perfectly dry the greeting on a torn piece of vellum was stamped with Stazon.

The accents I created for the ladies before hand by punching out tiny dots from Dapper Denim then filling them with our retired Glossy Accents – called liquid glass in other products.

Then the sponging began. We used Old Olive, Dapper Denim, Soft Sky  and Smokey Slate.  The water was completed with the waves from  High Tide and the sky with the birds from the same set.  Add the sentiment, a touch of Wink of Stella on the water and all done. For a first attempt  I think they have all turned out rather well.

Happy crafting

Crafty Creations June Umbrellas

Sometimes a play  with ink, paper and water can result in completely different out come to the one intended.

That’s exactly what happened with the background to this card. I was spritzing some Whisper White card stock with a mix of Tranquil Tide and Pool Party but wasn’t happy with the result till I turned it over and loved the effect. I called it Reverse Water Wash!

So happily I copied this card in the catalogue as did the Crafty Creators on Friday.

IUmbrella

You may notice that the group image has a different yellow umbrella. That’s because the demonstrator – me – left  the Daffodil Delight CS at home. We improvised by using our Blender Pens with the Daffodil Ink.

Of course using water and ink means the original can never be copied so we have  a great variety of rainy backgrounds in our cards.  First we spritzed the Whisper White with water, just in the center, then Spritzed the combined Tranquil Tide and Pool Party,
wiping sides of paper to keep colours in the middle.

The amount of saturation with ink determined the depth of colour on the under side.  We helped the drying process along with the Heat Gun. We also dyed the twine with the Daffodil ink to match.

The group is planning to play at home during the week so am excited to see what they create using the same technique. I must do one with the Colorful Seasons stamp set soon, I can see the background now with leaves scattered around and all those lovely autumn colors.

Crafty Creations 23rd June

We certainly had some fun playing with the Embossing paste on Friday.  As you can see quiet an assembly line happening. Two Big Shots, 1 Cuttle bug, 1 Embossing station and a water bath for cleaning.  Thank goodness we had the big room.

June Crafty LadiesAs usual not a full crew but just as well with all the cutting and drying needed. In Whisper White:- 1 large Flower, 3 Branches, 3 Small flowers, 3 Medium flowers, 2 Autumn leaves. In Basic Black:- 2 Autumn Leaves, all from the Seasonal layers Thinlit Dies.  The largest flower is from the retired Botanical Builder but I will still be using it for a long time, that’s for sure.

We didn’t experiment with colours but just practiced with the embossing paste for today. Colouring later!

Paste Flowers

Irma added a sentiment, the original didn’t have a sentiment,  and used some coloured diamenties to highlight her card.   The largest flower is from the retired Botanical Builder but I will still be using it for sure.

Every one managed to create a finished card despite dealing with a new technique!

Well done ladies.

Stampin’ Up! Colours 2017-2018

Todays post comes direct from Vicky Wright at Sunshinecards-Creations

She has generously shared with all her team and others so thought you might like it too.
Thanks Vicky.

Vicky Wright, Independent Stampin Up! Demonstrator

Today’s post is a little different in that I had organized a document for myself to keep all Stampin-Up-Retired-In-Coloumy colour codes in one place.  I don’t know about you but I had them everywhere & was sick of trying to find them when required.  I must say a big thank you to those lovely people who do the codes each year & share, share & share.  They are so very helpful.  Your work never goes unappreciative.

I then expanded the form to include a box to tick off when you have purchased Card, Ink Pads, Refills & Markers.  Again, a huge thank you to the lovely people for giving us the Codes.  I didn’t use any one particular code as I sort of selected the ones that I thought were closest to the Stampin’ Up! colours.

After playing with the form & tweaking it heaps, I have finally emailed it…

Crafty Creations 16th June

The days have been a bit cold here. Down to 21 Degrees. I know for people in really cold places, Canada, some of USA, Europe that is laughable but for us it’s nippy, jumper time for the locals.

What better way to add to our warmth than by creating a card that says just that. At this point I have no idea who came up with the first jumper/cardigan using the Cable Knit Dynamic EF as there are lots of images on Pinterest etc. Enough to say thanks to all those who have created with this folder.

Now my girls were spoilt as they had a choice, a male or female and surprise surprise more males chosen than females.

Relatively simple card but very effective. We used Whisper White, Pink Pirouette and Fresh Fig CS for the jumper and Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Fresh Florals DSP for the Cardigan.

Jumper:

The Pink Piroutte was embossed then marked at the center  and a  V taken out of the neck and lined with a Delicate White Doily cut to fit. Unfortunately the crimping tool is no longer available but that’s what was used for the band in Very Vanilla. Happy birthday from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous SS was stamped onto Very Vanilla then cut using the the Sweet and Sassy framelits. A circle was cut at the neck of the folded base card before the Embossed front was adhered. The flowers were in Fresh fig using the flowers from The Bloomin Heart Thinlits. Some pretty pearls completed the jumper.

Cardigan

The cardigan was a little more fiddly as the DSP was adhered to the center of the base card WW before cutting a neck circle. After embossing the Crumb Cake it was cut in half, pieces put together back to back , then a large triangle from the bottom and a smaller triangle taken out of the top. When opened out this formed the front of the cardigan. This was adhered to the DSP and again using the paper  crimper, bands were added.

cardigan template

A small pocket was made with a tiny handkerchief popping out.  Using the Badges and Banners SS, the sentiment was stamped on WW and punched with the Duet Banner punch. The final addition of  a button completed the card. It was threaded with some twine or in a very small sliver of paper. jumpers

Catalogue launch

Yesterday was a great day as my new Demonstrator Irma Bashford held her first ever class and combined it with a Catalogue Launch.

It was a fun morning, as there were Survival kits, Lucky door prizes,  a make and take using the Daisy Punch and Daisy Delight Stamp Set, (sadly not able to be ordered at the moment) and to get the girls familiar with the catalogue a Bingo Game.  Gail, Naomi and Eunine were the winners here. Thank you Irma for our lovely prizes.

I am sorry I didn’t take pics of the beautiful display that Irma had taken such pride in. A job well done and lots of great card examples for everyone to be encouraged and inspired by.

We rounded it off with yummy food and a great cuppa after all our laughter and chatter to quench our parched throats.

Fixing the glueThis is a shot of Irma in class busy with the heat gun on some embossing.

These are the lovely cards we made under her excellent directions. They are actually all on white CS but the lighting has coloured them a bit.

Irma's launch

Congratulations Irma

Keep crafting Naomi

DSP Delight

We all have some. Those pieces of DSP that we just pull out and admire and dream of the possibilities. I had one such piece and have seen many posts on Pinterest and Instagram using it beautifully. Still it remained uncut. Still dreaming.

Then I was asked to make a special 70th Birthday card so I relented and here it is. It is retired now but the combination of copper, glimmer and colour have been well combined in the new catalogue with these papers. I just don’t have mine yet!!

My DSP was the Affectionately Yours which is now retired, as is the Love and Affection Stamp Set I used on the inside. Thankfully Beautiful You on the front and the Large Number Framelits are still current.

Enjoy Naomi.

Swirly Birds Meets Happy Birthday Gorgeous.

Remember that training session a few weeks ago that I mentioned a couple blogs back? Well that was the place I made this little card.

The original was cased from the new Catalogue —-fabulous Catalogue isn’t it?

IF YOU HAVEN’T HAD A LOOK ON LINE OR SECURED YOUR COPY JUST GET IN CONTACT WITH ME AND I WILL SEE YOU GET ONE ASAP!

Don’t be the last to have such fabulous ideas and creativity at your finger tips.

The original image on page 10 was the inspiration combined with pge 171 but the end was ..well …pink and white with a dash of green

It was started off by creating a background with Sweet Sugar Plum on Shimmery White White CS using the Watercolour technique, with the Aqua painter and Sweet Sugar plum.

Then I added the Swirly Die Cuts, cutting off the overlaps on edges. Stamped Hello There from Pieces and Patterns Stamps and also the flowers from Happy Birthday Gorgeous and adhered to the card.

For more details head to Vicky’s Blog for a tutorial.

Thanks again Vicky for being a great up line.
